Brana

For over a century, four generations have succeeded one another in the wine trade. In 1974, Etienne Brana and his wife Adrienne set up the distillery and planted an orchard of William pear trees. Martine and Jean, their children, took over from them.

Today, Martine, the distiller, has taken over and developed the precious family know-how, and continues to innovate with fruit, spices and plants! All the delicacy and finesse of women can be found in these precious bottles of spirits produced in the Basque country: eaux-de-vie, liqueurs, gins and whiskies.

In 1984, Maison Brana developed a 20-hectare terraced vineyard on plots chosen for the quality of their soil, made up of iron-rich Triassic sandstone, and their ideal South/South-West exposure. The diversity of the terroirs allows us to offer different expressions and a very wide range of wines. In addition to its passion for vines and wine, Maison Brana has a genuine interest in nature. This is why everything is communicated in the approach to and work on the vines: from sustainable viticulture to biodynamic viticulture and respect for the environment. The estate boasts 106 different species of plant and 110 nesting boxes (the vineyard is home to 35 species of birds, which are invaluable helpers). It is now certified HVE High Environmental Value Level III and has been in conversion to organic farming since 2020.
